How it works

Stitches across = width × stitches in your swatch ÷ swatch size. The starting chain adds the chains needed for the first row: one extra for single crochet and two for half double or double crochet. Moss stitch needs an even starting chain. Rows are calculated the same way from length. Sizes listed are common approximations — there is no single standard.

Common questions

Why doesn’t my blanket match the calculated size?

Tension changes over a large project and foundation chains are often tighter. Measure every so often and adjust the row count.

Does a border change the size?

Yes. Subtract the border width from each side of the target size before calculating.
