How we create, test, review and correct the patterns, tutorials and articles published on this site.

This policy explains how content on All About Crochet is created and maintained, so you know what to expect from every page.
Our standards
Original. Patterns, tutorials, photos and articles are created by us, commissioned, or used with explicit permission. We do not copy, scrape, spin or rewrite other people’s work.
Accurate. We check stitch counts, measurements and technical explanations before publishing, and we correct mistakes promptly.
Clear. We write in plain language, explain abbreviations and include stitch counts so you can check your progress.
Honest. We don’t publish invented reviews, testimonials, credentials or first-hand experiences.
How patterns are created
- Design. A designer develops and makes the project.
- Writing. The pattern is written using a consistent template: materials, gauge, abbreviations, notes, row-by-row instructions, assembly and finishing.
- Technical check. Stitch counts, repeats and measurements are checked against the sample. [Describe who does this.]
- Testing. [Describe your testing process, if any.]
- Editing and publishing. An editor reviews the page for clarity, accessibility and accuracy before it goes live.
Testing labels
Each pattern shows one of these labels, and we only use the ones that are true:
- Not yet tested — the pattern has been checked but not made by anyone other than the designer, or not made at all (sample content).
- Made and checked by the designer — the designer has made the item from the written pattern.
- Made by independent pattern testers — one or more people outside our team have made it from the pattern. Testers are only named with their permission.
Authors and reviewers
Every pattern and article names its author. A “Technically reviewed by” credit only appears when that person actually reviewed the content.
Use of AI and other tools
[Describe honestly how you use — or don’t use — AI tools. We recommend: any AI-assisted drafting is reviewed, fact-checked and substantially edited by a person, and no pattern is ever published without human review and real-world making.]
Images
Images are our own or properly licensed, and credited where required. Placeholder artwork is labeled as such.
Dates and updates
Pages show a published date and, when content changes meaningfully, an updated date. We never change dates just to make content look fresh.
Corrections
Found a mistake? Please contact us with the page and details. We review every report and update the page when a correction is needed.
Advertising and affiliates
Advertising never influences what we publish, and ads are always clearly separated from content. Affiliate links are disclosed. See our affiliate disclosure.
