About this pattern
The shape comes entirely from stitch height. Short stitches sit at the point and in the center dip, while taller double crochet and treble crochet stitches build the two rounded curves. Once you see how it works, you can use the same idea to shape all kinds of small motifs.

Tips
- If the top of your heart looks flat, pull the center slip stitch snug and shape the curves while blocking.
- Cotton gives a crisp heart; fuzzy yarn gives a soft, cozy one.
- Leave long tails if you plan to sew the heart onto something.

- Heart garland
- Make several hearts, then crochet a long chain and slip stitch each heart onto it as you go.
- Gift tag
- Sew a loop of yarn to the top of the heart and tie it around a present.
- Mini hearts
- Use DK yarn and a 3.5 mm hook for tiny hearts to sew onto cards.
Common questions
My heart looks lopsided. What went wrong?
Usually one instruction group was worked into the wrong stitch. Check that each side uses exactly five stitches of Round 1, with the slip stitch in the seventh stitch.
Can I make a bigger heart?
Use thicker yarn and a larger hook. For a much bigger heart, look for a pattern designed with extra rounds so the curves stay smooth.
